User Interface Design

Usability

Every product — from medical devices to web applications — that will be used by people must be usable if it is to be successful. Usability, or user-centered design, represents a set of techniques developed by usability professionals to help create usable products that are efficient, effective, and that meet the needs of the intended users.

Analysis

BCA works with the client to identify the usability goals and objectives and to identify and analyze the needs of the end users. Depending on the level of detail requested by the client, analysis can include field study, competitive product review, creation of user profiles, and creation of use scenarios. The results of the analysis become the user interface requirements.

Design

In the design phase, BCA transforms the requirements into panel or screen flow and navigation models. These are usually paper prototypes which the client, users, and BCA can test using the previously developed profiles and scenarios. This is a very efficient and cost-effective method to further refine the designs.

Implementation

During implementation, BCA will continue ongoing heuristic evaluations, working closely with the client/user representatives to incorporate feedback into the final product. To insure that the original objectives are met, the product will be tested using a test plan developed from the user interface requirements.

Whether it be a web application, a medical device, a consumer product or a new mobile application, BCA can design the appropriate user experience that will make you proud of your product.
